IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT BACKYARD AND STEAK APPLICATION PROCESS

During the November meeting, the Board of Directors discussed and approved to remove the application process for Backyard team and Steak cooks.

What

The process for making sure a backyard team or steak cook is registered for the MABA team/cook of the year programs has been simplified. Teams or cooks no longer have to complete an application on the MABA website in order to express intent to compete in the respective backyard team of the year or steak cook of the year program.

Note: Teams moving up from backyard to master series that wish to compete in the rookie team of the year program still have to complete the application to express their intent to compete for rookie team of the year.

Why

MABA has expanded the membership profile format to better capture demographics of our members in order to track who is competing in which series/program.

When

The new change is in effect at the release of this letter and applicable for the 2023 season starting November 1st, 2022 for BBQ teams and January 1st, 2023 for steak cooks.

The MABA website is updated.

Please log on and update your membership profile to ensure you are included in the appropriate points chases for 2023. Make your sure team name and individual name is the same as registered for the primary sanctioning organizations (KCBS & SCA) of the recognized MABA contests to which you compete.

Thank you,
The MABA Board of Directors
